I'm No Fool
I can remember as a kid going to Almeda Mall with my parents. They would pay the $.50 or whatever it cost for me to hang out with other kids watching Disney films in our own little theatre.
These films helped teach me wrong from right and instilled in me a certain morality that I think is missing in many ways these days. Never show off. Never, never overdo. A tired person is a careless person. Sunshine is wonderful in moderation, of course. Follow the rules. They are for your protection. "USE COMMON SENSE! YOUR SAFETY DEPENDS ON YOU!" We don't get enough of this. Instead, we've become a litigious society dependent on others to protect us.
Jiminy Cricket wasn't a fool. It's far too bad that so many others are these days.
Try it again Stupid.

Damn Pickle
Margaritaville. Valentine's Day, 2009. This was the first night of our trip to Key West. When we got to Margaritaville we were relegated to the top deck. We were the only people up there most of the time, so we didn't have to worry about our language or shenanigans. This picture was taken about the time Jon and I decided to have a pickle deep throating contest. I have no idea why Rose is making that face, unless Jon just stuck her pickle down his throat.
The food? Meh. The beer? Cold. The margaritas? Blech. The music? Loud. The service? Crap. I may be a Parrothead, but after our two different Key West Margaritaville experiences I'll not go back except for maybe a TShirt. I prefer the Las Vegas Margaritaville. Their Cuban sandwich was incredible.
Key West birthday
I couldn't have asked for a better time.
Early one morning we all met up for our assault on Key West. Our raucous bunch took over Delta Airlines' flight to Atlanta and by the time we got on the plane for Miami we were in full form.
I'll have to do a series of posts about the entire week, blogging them individually, because there is just so much to tell, and just about every picture has its own little story.
My 40th birthday, needless to say, was the birthday of a lifetime. I couldn't ask for a better gang of friends. Key West will never be the same again.

0 Days Left!!!!
Ah, what a beautiful day to go fishin'
The old Hawaiian way
And the hukilau nets were swishin'
Down in old L`ie Bay
Oh we're goin' to a hukilau
Huki-huki-huki-huki-huki-hukilau
Everybody loves the hukilau
Where the laulau is the kaukau at the l`au
Oh we throw our nets out into the sea
And all the `ama`ama come a-swimmin' to me
Oh, we're goin' to the hukilau
Huki-huki-huki-huki-hukilau
Oh we're goin' to the hukilau
Huki-huki-huki-huki-huki-hukilau
Everybody loves the hukilau
Where the laulau is the kaukau at the great l`au
Oh we throw our net out into the sea
And all the `ama`ama come a-swimmin' to me
Oh, we're goin' to the hukilau
Huki-huki-huki-huki-hukilau
Huki-huki-huki-huki-hukilau
Huki-huki, hu-uki-huki, hukilau-au...
